Expatriates

The school requires one day’s notice for any new enrolment starting at the school. Families who arrive at the school unexpectedly will be inducted immediately where possible, with the student/s beginning in class the following day. The school administration requires this time to complete enrolment forms, hold induction meetings and notify all teachers (including specialists) of the new arrivals.

Eligibility will be determined by the following Indonesian Government Regulation. Students who may admitted shall be foreign nationals holding a KITAS or whose father is a KITAS holding expatriate employee.

Early Childhood (EC) Entry Policy - Students will be eligible to enrol in the Entry programme and begin as from their third birthday. Students enrolled in this programme will be classified as Entry Students and they may attend from 7.50 am - 12.15 pm. Students beginning Entry after the completion of term II (after Christmas holidays) will remain Entry students during the next academic school year.

The enrolment of a 3-year-old student will be only after parental agreement to the following: Initially there will be two weeks’ trial, both from the point of view of the child as well as with regard to the other students in the class. Should either the parents or the teacher express concerns, the child’s enrolment will be delayed to a later, mutually agreed to date. This will allow any special provisions to be put into place to ensure the ongoing safety, needs and well being of the student. Students need to be toilet trained prior to enrolment.

Reception Year - Students coming from the EC programme will spend one full academic year in Reception. Students will also be eligible to enrol in the Reception Programme as from their fifth birthday. This will be a five day a week programme, full time. Students beginning Reception for the first time after the completion of term II (after the December - January holiday) will remain a Reception student during the next academic school year.

Grade 1 - Grade 10 - Generally the chronological age of the child will be used as the key indicator, although the final placement of students will be determined by the Principal after discussion with parents and the viewing of supporting records. Students who arrive at MIS with a birthday prior to December 31 may be placed in a higher grade level by the Principal after discussions with parents and the viewing of supporting records, or after a classroom trial of one month. In cases of uncertainty regarding academic or social adjustment, placement will be in a lower grade level, with re-evaluation after one month.
